EPDM Shed Roofing

One of the easiest ways to approach DIY flat roofing is to start with an EPDM kit. This simplifies the project significantly, as everything is included in the right quantities. Flat roof kits from PermaRoof can be bought in standard off-the-shelf sizes or can be custom-cut to your own specifications.

We include EPDM membranes in all our roof kits as standard. We calculate sufficient adhesive, sealant and some of our standard kits also include edge and gutter trim to complete your installation. Fast and easy to install, our flat roofing kits are perfect for DIY and remain one of our most popular ranges online.

Why Choose EPDM for DIY Flat Roofing?

  • Long lasting 50 years plus
  • 100% reliable
  • Easy to install

EPDM membrane is part of the fastest growing sectors of the roofing industry – single ply roofing. One of the highest performers, RubberCover EPDM is durable and tough, with an exceptional service life expectancy of over 50 years in the field.

This type of longevity is rarely seen in traditional flat roof and shed coverings, such as felt or other types of membrane. For homeowners, this means that historically repetitive tasks, like re-felting the shed, for instance, can now be tackled just once and crossed of the list for good.

The ease of installation of EPDM roofing is another big bonus for the DIY sector. For most typical domestic flat roofs, EPDM can be installed in a single sheet – no joins – using cold, water-based or bonding adhesive. Safer and faster to apply, EPDM is the ideal membrane of choice for competent, confident DIYers.

How to choose the right type of DIY flat roofing kit

We offer a range of standard, off-the-shelf DIY flat roofing kits to buy online suitable for a variety of projects:

These are available in a range of sizes and can also be tailored to suit your exact needs. From a basic shed roof replacement kit with Firestone membrane, adhesive and sealant to a full flat roof extension kit including edge and gutter trim, we make sure you get exactly what you need to get the job done. Assess your project to determine which type of roof kit you need, or give the team a call and let us help you with your order.

Getting the quantities right first time

One of the most complex parts of planning a DIY flat roofing project is making sure you order the right quantities. While this is easy for a trade roofer, homeowners often end up buying too much or too little. We’ve designed our flat roof kits to simplify quantifying and eliminate over- or under-buying materials. Ensure you’ve got accurate project dimensions and we’ll do the rest. We include additional membrane for overhang in all our kits (300mm), so simply measure your project accurately and you’re away.

We’ve produced a handy DIY guide to help you make sure you measure the project as accurately as possible. Download or read your free guide (PDF) below.

Kit Builder App

The PermaRoof Kit Builder App is our useful free tool, used by trade flat roofers all over the country every day. It is ideal for larger or more complex projects where more detail is required to tailor your flat roofing kit perfectly.

In just four simple steps basic dimensions and project details are given, such as where adjoining walls, extrusions or gutter edges are located, for example. These details give the app everything it needs to calculate your EPDM kit list. Your final materials list can then be saved, printed or sent to PermaRoof for a fast quote. It’s as easy as that! Try it now, it’s free.

How to install a flat roof kit

Once your kit has arrived and you’ve checked it’s all there, you’re ready to prepare your roof for installation. Preparation is a key part of the install process, especially if you’re to get the best from your RubberCover EPDM’s exceptional performance and lifespan.

There are no specialist tools required for preparing your roof, but if you have stubborn grease or oil spots, you may opt to use a power washer or similar cleaning equipment. We always recommend that you strip the existing covering off and take the roof down to the deck, making sure it is clean and free of dust or fixings that may puncture the new membrane.

Rest the membrane flat by laying it out over the roofing surface for 30 minutes prior to the installation, as this will remove any light packing creases. Follow the enclosed installation instructions or download one of our free install guides.

For DIY, there is no simpler system for your flat roofing project. PermaRoof UK developed our range of roofing kits especially for the DIY sector and we have a wide range of free installation guides to help you every step of the way.
