The benefits and advantages of waterproofing with liquid PU

Flexible, durable and straightforward to apply, liquid coatings are increasing in popularity across both the UK’s DIY and commercial sectors. Ideal for application where membrane simply cannot reach, liquid PU is still hard to beat for complex roofing projects, large and small.

With a 25-year service life expectancy, liquid PU seals and protects the widest range of substrates for the long term.
Straightforward to apply over almost any surface and showerproof in under 30 minutes, liquid PU provides seamless waterproofing for a wider range of projects:

Balcony refurbishment
Anti slip pool play area
Car parking zones
To make safe garden steps, pathways and other features
Children’s nursery play zones
Retirement homes
Basement tanking and buried roof waterproofing
And much more.

Why choose a liquid rubber (PU) system?

From concrete to metal roofing, liquid PU coatings cover them all, seamlessly. The liquid forms a membrane-like protective layer, encapsulating the substrate and is applied like paint to a prepared substrate. Primer may be required.

Applied using a series of rollers, our liquid PU roofing solution is fast, safe and easy to apply.

Remains flexible and durable at extreme temperatures and maintains UV stability. Can accommodate significant building movement and temperature fluctuations.

Liquid PU offers the perfect solution for waterproofing an eco roofing project, such as a green, blue or brown roof.

For DIY waterproofing projects, we offer complete liquid roofing kits. This means no worries about over or under-buying materials.

Because complex roofing systems are typical of large commercial buildings, such as hospitals or schools, liquid rubber roofing can prove the ideal solution. It can be applied to provide a membrane-like coating using rollers, brushes or spray applicators and requires no seaming. This can be essential when working on roofing with multiple or complex extrusions, for example.

Liquid Waterproofing FAQs

Why use a liquid coating instead of a regular membrane?2023-01-16T19:55:52+00:00

For many applications, a liquid coating can provide a more comprehensive solution, effectively sealing complex surfaces where membrane is difficult or impossible to install. This can include historically damp situations, such as basements, cellars or other structures with buried roofing.

Being cold applied, often in a single coat makes it safer and faster to apply than other types of waterproofing. As it can also be applied to a wider range of substrates and even cover some types of existing covering, it can sometimes offer a more flexible approach than membrane for homeowners tacking complex projects.

What tools do you need to install a liquid roof?2023-01-16T19:55:21+00:00
  • Electric drill with mixer attachment
  • Rollers – it is recommended that you use a high quality 9” roller for main area application and a smaller 4” roller for detailing
  • Sharp scissors – to cut and trim bandage

It is also recommended that you protect fascia and soffits, gutters and any other visible trim from potential drips or runs. Cover these with masking paper to simplify cleaning following application of the roofing system.
