Support FAQs
Proper drainage is vital. Without it, water can pool and cause leaks or long-term structural damage. Always ensure your roof has a slight slope and install high-quality drainage outlets that are easy to maintain.
Transforming your flat roof creates valuable outdoor living space without the need for a full extension. It can serve as a relaxing retreat, garden, working or dining area, often adding modern appeal. Adding a roof deck or terrace can boost property kerb and in some cases, real monetary value.
EPDM can be adhered to all types of timber roof substrates and onto OSB or plywood for the best results. It is typically adhered to wood roof decks using a water-based adhesive. It can be adhered to other surfaces such as a tissue-faced insulation board using a contact bonding adhesive.
How to calculate a flat roof area in square metres. Measure the length and width of the structure from the outside for accuracy. Multiply the two figures to calculate the square meterage of the flat roof. E.G. 4 metres (length) multiplied by 3 metres (width) = 12 square metres in total.
How to get wrinkles out of rubber roofing membrane. Lay the membrane on a flat surface to rest for 30 minutes. This is often enough to allow packing creases to dissipate. For tougher creases in EPDM, gently heat the affected area using an air heat source and use a silicone roller to smooth the wrinkle out. Do not leave the heat source in one spot for any length of time to avoid damaging the rubber.
To waterproof a shed, we recommend using an EPDM membrane. Start by measuring the length and width to calculate the size of the membrane you will need. Add 300mm to allow for overhang. Strip back the old roof covering and prepare the surface area, before applying adhesive and the new EPDM membrane.
