Yes, it is possible to walk on a RubberCover EPDM roof. You should wear suitable shoes and ensure they are free from any debris, such as small stones that may puncture or damage the rubber membrane. If using a flat roof to reach higher levels, for gutter or window cleaning, for instance, lay a piece of carpet or a thick towel down before putting up the ladder. This will provide protection for the membrane.

Yes, you can walk on a Firestone RubberCover EPDM roof. Many times I’m asked this question. People do occasionally want to go out and do the window cleaning, that’s fine. Occasionally they will also want to pop up and possibly clean the gutters at a higher level. What we do get asked on a fairly regular basis is “if I need to access my property higher up, what precautions should I take?”
I would generally advise people, if they’re thinking of putting a ladder on a flat roof, particularly with a rubber roof, is either put a heavy duty bath towel down there or an offcut of carpet before putting the ladder up. That’ll provide protection for the existing roof covering.
