Preparing a roofing kit list
Before starting any project, it is important to prepare everything you need in advance. This means that you can complete the job in as few sessions as possible. Most domestic projects can be completed in less than a day, such as shed or garage roof replacements, so plan ahead for the best chance of success.
At PermaRoof, we can help you plan and prepare for your projects, regardless of size. We provide custom-built roof kits, off the shelf kits in a range of sizes and a free Kit Builder App – and are at the end of the phone if you need any help with your order.

Safety
For safety reasons, it is always advisable to wear suitable clothing and footwear, safety goggles and head protection when working on any type of roofing project. Stir adhesives on a flat surface, preferably on the ground before ladders are climbed.
Ensure ladders are in good repair and a suitable length to easily reach the surface of the working area. It is always recommended that a second person is present to steady ladders during ascent and descent.
If at any time you feel unsure or not confident with any aspect of the installation, it is best to stop work straightaway and call in someone to help. We can help you find a reliable installer to finish the project via our National Installer Network.

Frequently asked questions about roofing tools
When installing EPDM, few tools are required for a professional finish. To ensure a perfect, neat finish in the detailing, we recommend:
To smooth down and remove any air bubbles in the main application area, a good quality, medium household broom is often used. An EPDM roller will deliver a perfect finish to the surface of the membrane and enhance adhesion.
To apply an even coat of primer, it is best applied with a pad. We supply a Quickscrubber kit, especially developed for the application of Quickprime Plus primer for EPDM.

Why EPDM?
EPDM offers a long-lasting and low maintenance approach to domestic flat roofing. With a life expectancy of more than 50 years, EPDM could outlive some types of projects, such as shed roofing.
Many homeowners must keep a close eye on felt roofs and ensure they are looked after and examined regularly for signs of damage. Common domestic felt is often tacked in place, which is not conducive to keeping water out, so as a result, many shed roofs need to be stripped back and replaced every few years.
EPDM delivers 100% waterproofing performance over its expected lifespan of over five decades and requires little or no maintenance once correctly installed.
