The winning roofing project

G J Smith Roofing bowled us over with their enthusiasm, entering several impressive projects using our products in May. The winning roof was one of their finest – a complete garage re-roof, including new rafters, a fresh roof deck and installation of one of our full ELEVATE Premium 1.52mm EPDM flat roof kits.

The project had its challenges – namely a roof containing asbestos – but nothing the professional, experienced G J Smith team couldn’t handle – here’s how the project went:

Method of works (from G J Smith Roofing)

• Removal of asbestos to be carried out by highly trained company, works undertaken are done so in accordance with health and safety executive guidelines and regulations, asbestos to be disposed of safely and securely
• Supply platform towers to suit
• Supply and install new 4×2 timber rafters, all cut and fixed to suit
• Supply and install new 18mm OSB boards to create a solid decking
• Supply and install new white UPVC fascia boards complete with attachments to suit
• Supply and lay new 1.52mm premium grade EPDM rubber fully contacted to new decking using the necessary adhesives
• Supply and install new check kerbs to suit
• To be covered by a 20-year product warranty and a 10-year G J Smith Roofing guarantee
