The brief:

In October 2021, Philip Jones Builders Limited enlisted our support on a project in Welshpool, Powys after being tasked with improving the quality of the roofing for a selection of retirement homes at William Ainge Court. We were brought on to advise on the correct solution that would future proof the roof for decades to come.

The development of 23 flats was built in 1976 and, following almost 50 years of wear and tear, the roof aspect required renovation with a reliable, modern, roofing system.

The solution:

In order to improve the roof quality at William Ainge Court, we recommended installing a sloped roof to improve the surface run-off and reduce water pooling on the roof, which could cause weakness and lead to leaks or premature failure.

Furthermore, once the structural changes were made to the roof, we advised that a full system utilising RubberGuard EPDM would be most appropriate to ensure longevity, with the 20-year warranty on the product range providing additional reassurance to the client.

The RubberGuard EPDM is a single-ply roofing membrane made of a synthetic rubber ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer, which is easy to install and reliably waterproof – thanks to being available in large sheets that require little to no cutting to fit a space.

We were on hand throughout the process, from consultancy to completion, to ensure the contractor was confident in fitting the system and had the correct technical support from our team.
