Lighthouse Charity Launch Helpline

A new initiative, the Considerate Constructors Scheme, has been launched by the Lighthouse Club Charity that will provide confidential 24/7 help and support to construction industry workers and their families on a wide and varied range of subjects including:

• Occupational Health
• Illness & Bereavement
• Finance
• Depression

The scheme has been launched by the Lighthouse Club Charity organisation, whose chief executive, Bill Hill said, “I am absolutely delighted to be able to launch the Construction Industry Helpline in partnership with the Considerate Constructors Scheme. I am extremely grateful to the Scheme for its help in raising awareness of this much-needed facility for workers in the construction industry and their families. This unique helpline will give helpful advice to those facing difficult times as a result of unforeseen circumstances. I like to think of the construction industry as one big family with a duty of care and responsibility to its workers – as considerate constructors. I hope the industry and its workforce will benefit greatly from this worthwhile initiative.”

The Construction Industry Helpline is funded by the charity, and supported by donations from individuals and businesses from the construction industry sector and has been widely welcomed.

Edward Hardy, chief executive of the Considerate Constructors Scheme said, “We’re delighted to support the launch of the Construction industry Helpline to help our workforce in times of need. The construction industry has a macho image, but like all sectors of society and as in all industries, people encounter a wide range of professional and personal difficulties and it can be hard to know where to get help.”

The helpline will operate in absolute confidence and will be the first of its kind for the industry. Continuing, Mr Hardy said, “I like to think of the construction industry as one big family with a duty of care and responsibility to its workers – as considerate constructors.”
