Construction Industry improves and continues to grow!
As the Construction Industry continues to grow, although encouraging for the industry as a whole, it has opened a new can of worms for sub-contractor availability - falling to a new low at the fastest rate since 2000.
The volume of new construction projects, although slowing in the UK during February's bad weather showed increases for the eleventh consecutive month during March, reaching levels of increase that almost matched those of September 2007.
With these figures, comes a growing confidence in the industry, and a positive outlook for the year ahead. However, the strain upon the workforce is a consequence of that same growth and will undoubtedly affect lead times. Evidence of this is also being seen in the supply chain, with delivery times lagging to the extent that no one has seen since July 1997. Indications have been given that the sharp rise in employment in the industry and supplier demand may push up prices across the sector.
